Dorothea Steigerwald was born on the 3rd of January, 1918 in Duisburg, Germany, as the fifth of
six children. In 1937 entry into the deacon's mother's house "Hebron" with her younger sister
Adelheid.
Education as a deaconess in Marburg (kindergarten teacher, exam as a nurse).
In 1945 she begins her artistic work as an autodidact in Braubach near Koblenz.
In 1950 she participates in an open university course with a sculptor in Mülheim / Ruhr for
two semestres. In 1963 Dorothea creates the world-renowned plastic "Stay His Child" in Bergzabern.
1965 first publications with the Brendow Verlag, Moers.
From 1967 a large part of her increasingly famous works originates in systematic leisure
work, beside the management of her kindergarten. In 1989 Sister Dorothea is awarded with
Bundesverdienstkreuz (Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany).
On the 3rd of January, 2008 sister Dorothea celebrated her 90th birthday.
